Mold Damage

In the natural world mold provides an important service of breaking down biological material, however in your home it can be quite dangerous.   Everyone has heard of the health dangers of black mold, but most mold can cause health issues and all mold can cause the structural breakdown of any building materials based on organic matter, such as wood.

Whether mold is found in a home or commercial building, mold can lead to costly damage.  It can lead to damage to both the structure itself and the health of its occupants, so it is important that if you see any warning signs or have a known water leak that you contact a licensed mold remediation specialist.  A licensed profesional knows the  types of damage to look for,  and can help prevent the spead of a mold problem before it causes widespread property damage and/or serious adverse health effects.

Proper water removal is a complex process to ensure no further damage occurs.   This is imperative as mold thrives in a warm and moist environment.  Simply removing standing water does not help to remove moisture from porous surfaces that provide a perfect breeding ground for mold.  Timely cleanup, treatment and dehumidification can prevent mold growth or spread, but the whole process can take days and requires the skills of an experienced and certified technician and specialized equipment. With 24-hour service and years of experience, the experts at Texans Best Restoration can protect your property and loved ones from the dangers of mold.

Remediation VS Removal

Although often used interchangeably there is a  difference between Removal and Remediation.  To put it simply:

Remediation is the act of the removing damaged materials when that are  irretrievable or non-salvageable.  This is often the case with things like sheetrock that absorb water like a sponge and who's structural integrity is compromised once this happens.

Mold Removal is the act of removing the mold from a surface, in some cases, mold is only on the surface of non-porous or semi-porous material.

At Texans Best Restoration we remove mold using a combination of cleaning techniques.  Do not be tempted to just clean off mold as  mold will release spores when agitated and depending on the type of mold these spores can not only spread the mold but can be deadly if inhailed.

A certified professional removes mold and sanitizes the area to ensure it can be done safely and to prevent spreading.

Mold Cleanup Process

At Texans Best Restoration our mold removal technicians are licensed by the State of Texas and IICRC Certified.  We follow state mandated and best practice processes to return your property to a safe state to allow proper return to pre disaster condition.

Determine Mold Damage - Mold and moisture damage can not be fully evaluated by the naked eye.  At Texans Best Restoration we use infrared. cameras to identify the source of the damage if it is unknown and the extent of the damage.  We then use moisture-meters equipment to measure moisture in your floors, walls, ceilings, and cabinets.

Dry Water Immediately - Our mold removal professionals use commercial-grade dehumidifiers and water removal and extraction equipment to dry out your floors, carpets, cabinets, and walls to contain damage and prevent mold spread and growth.

Prevent Mold Spread- To prevent mold spores from spreading, the contaminated area is sealed off with plastic sheeting and negative air pressure is used to direct mold spores outdoors.

Dispose of and Treat Affected Materials - Also called "teat out" Some materials will need to be disposed of, such as: ceiling tiles; insulation; wall boards; carpet; soft furnishings; clothes; papers; and books. Non-porous such as metals, glass and hard plastics may be cleaned and reused. Depending on the degree of mold damage, semi porous wood may be cleaned up by drying, sanding, and treating with an anti-microbial solvent to return it to a safe state.

Air Condition System Treatment - Depending on the location of the water ingress and the spore spread your air conditioning and ventilation systems  will be dried, cleaned, and then treated with HEPA filtration to remove remaining mold particles.

Whole House Mold Disinfection - Your whole home will be treated and filtered to remove airborne spore contaminates.
